I am passionate about fabric and sewing. And as we all know, these are actually two different hobbies—because fabric collecting and enjoying fabric are completely separate from actually sewing with it. We all enjoy building our fabric stashes, right?
Rainy Day Sewing was created for fellow fabric lovers, makers, quilters, and sewists who appreciate beautiful fabric just as much as they enjoy creating with it.
My Story

My mom says that I grew up under a quilt frame. Sewing and quilting was there in my early childhood. I remember learning to sew on my mom's Singer Featherweight before eventually advancing to a Pfaff. Sewing and quilting have been part of my life for a long time, although I haven't always loved them. There was definitely a period when I thought sewing was horribly boring. I did, however, love going to the House of Fabrics and looking through the garment pattern catalogs.
In my late teens, I tried sewing clothing, but I quickly discovered that I didn't have the patience for it at the time.
Then I discovered how to make purses and bags, and that became my thing for a number of years. Eventually, I found my way back to quilting and made another quilt as an adult. Somewhere along the way, I realized that sewing wasn't boring after all. I just needed to find the kinds of projects that made me excited to sit down at my machine.
Today, I enjoy quilting and bag making, and I'm continuing to expand my knowledge and skills in garment sewing and construction. I also have a bit of a weakness for vintage sewing machines and enjoy collecting them. There's just something about those old machines—the craftsmanship, the history, and imagining all the things that have been made on them. Apparently, fabric collecting wasn't enough of a hobby on its own!
Why Shop With Me
One of my favorite parts of sewing is putting fabrics together. I love finding colors, prints, and textures that complement one another, which is why I strive to bring you unique and thoughtfully curated fabric bundles for your own projects.
At Rainy Day Sewing, you'll find quality quilting cottons, apparel fabrics, and sewing notions for makers of all kinds.
With the loss of so many independent fabric stores—particularly those that carried quality apparel fabrics—I've seen how much harder it can be for sewists to find beautiful fabrics locally. My goal is to make those fabrics more accessible while creating a place where fellow fabric lovers can discover something they can't wait to add to their stash.
Whether you're planning your next quilt, making a new bag, sewing a garment, or simply adding another irresistible fabric to your collection, I hope you'll find something here that inspires you.
